2014 has already got off to a flying start for us - in January we were awarded the Micros Grand Prix Golden Chariot Award for Delivery Excellence.
2014 continues to be super busy here at schuh, with new stores opening in Covent Garden, Nuneaton, Doncaster, Bexleyheath and Birmingham Fort. Which means, drum roll please, we now have a whopping… 100 stores! Woa. And we’re not done yet so keep your eyes peeled for even more schuh stores opening later this year.
We even found time to give our website a high tech makeover so it’s one of the first totally responsive websites out there. And it looks prettier than ever. Go check it out!
In 2013 we opened a record breaking 19 new stores. Yes, you heard correctly, NINETEEN! Kingston, Hull, Whitely, Hanley, Carlisle, Basingstoke, The Gyle, Glasgow Fort, Glasgow Fort Kids, Blackburn, Teesside, York, Marble Arch, Swindon, Canary Wharf, West Bromwich, Jersey, Stirling and Wolverhampton: welcome to the schuh family!
With all these new store openings we barely had time to stop for breath but we did manage to squeeze in a whistle-stop festival tour with the schuh Welly Exchange in association with Newlife.
Our amazing schuh Kids shopfit also received industry recognition receiving Gold in the coveted POPAI Awards adding to our already bulging trophy case!
2014, we’re coming for you!
2012 was a pretty busy year for us with a WHOPPING 16 new store openings including Colchester, Bath, Cardiff St Davids, Warrington, Wood Green, Cribbs Causeway, Swords, Braehead, Liverpool 1, Brent Cross, Chester, Solihull and Truro. We also found time to give some of our existing stores a shiny new makeover. And, breathe…
As well as all that, 2012 also saw the launch of schuh kids, schuh’s first ever full kids range and an exciting addition to the schuh family. Originally trialled in 20 stores, by the end of the year we had also launched 3 stand alone kids stores in Braehead, Liverpool and Lakeside.
Website-wise, we launched schuh.eu and fr.schuh.eu as well as introducing optimised tablet and mobile sites at t.schuh.co.uk and m.schuh.co.uk. We also got seriously social, hugely increasing our fan base on Facebook and Twitter!
Summer saw schuh take the awarding winning schuh Welly Exchange on the road with appearances at Rockness, Camp Bestival and a boiling hot Bestival!
In between all the hard work we also won a few industry awards including: Company High Street Fashion Awards: Best Footwear under £150 2012, Fabulous Magazine: Fabulous for stand-alone shoes 2012, Drapers Footwear & Accessories Award: High Street Retailer of the Year 2012 and Insider Deals: Dealmaker Deal of the year 2012.
What's next? World domination, obviously.
Happy Birthday to us! Perhaps one of Schuh’s biggest years ever, 2011 saw us turn 30 and embark on our biggest ever ad campaign in celebration. It’s also the year we were adopted! Yes, in 2011, Schuh was acquired by US corporation Genesco and we now have a bunch of lovely American brothers and sisters across the pond. Aside from that, it’s business as Schuh-sual…
We had a fun summer of festivals, taking the award winning Schuh Welly Exchange to Rockness, Oxegen and Camp Bestival and sent a lucky Schuh fan and three friends to four festivals across Europe to party it up. Sticking with the party theme, we celebrated wins at the Draper’s and Company High Street Fashion awards and our Customer Service team topped the Rising Star Retail awards. Keeping it Customer Service, 2011 was also the year we introduced live chat. They’ve had some, er, interesting experiences so far…
In between parties (when you’re 30, you get to party all year) and festivals, we found time to move our Manchester Market Street store across the road to a bigger unit and to tart up our Oxford Street, Leeds Briggate and Glasgow Argyle Street stores, all with our new fit concept that was successfully trialled in Meadowhall in 2010. Also receiving makeovers in 2011 were Milton Keynes and Dundee who have emerged like butterflies from the chrysalis looking shiny and fabulous! As if all that wasn’t enough we opened new stores in (deep breath): Guildford, Watford, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Stratford and Wigan. We’re off for a rest…
In 2010, we’ve dolled up our Birmingham Bullring and Belfast stores and trialled a shiny new Schuh fit in our Meadowhall store. We relocated our Newcastle Eldon Square branch to the swanky new centre extension and it’s been a bit of a homecoming as Schuh opens in The Centre in Livingston, long time homeland of schuh HQ. As well as that, we’ve spread the good word Schuh in the South, opening stores in Peterborough and Cheltenham. As if all that wasn’t enough, we found time to pick up the Best Multichannel Retailer at the Draper’s etail awards and Footwear Etailer of the Year and Multiple Footwear Retailer of the Year at the Drapers Footwear awards 2010. Phew!
